The Grand Bargain, launched during the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul in May 2016, is a unique agreement between some of the largest donors and humanitarian organisations who have committed to get more means into the hands of people in need and to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the humanitarian action.

How we support the Grand Bargain

QUALITY FUNDING

Our SMART programming enables funding to be used in an effective and efficient response. Our digital tracking and reporting, and the provision of verified data in real-time to institutional donors ensures visibility, transparency, and accountability.

LOCALISATION

We deliver LOTUS20 technology, training, policies and support services to all local partners for free. Our technology enables equitable partnerships, strengthening local partners’ capacities to lead/co-lead responses and increase direct funding from institutional donors.

PARTICIPATION

We always invite community households and local MSMEs to explain their humanitarian, technology, and business needs to help shape our digital solutions. It is critical that communities have a voice and participate in LOTUS20 workshops, forums, and surveys.

ANTICIPATORY ACTION

LOTUS20 captures anonymised transactional data never seen before. Analysis of programming output, consumption patterns, diet deficiencies, local inflation, market viability, supply chain effectiveness etc. can provide invaluable information to prepare for potential future crises.

INNOVATIVE FINANCING

LOTUS20 maps and supports existing financing mechanisms that enable cross-sector collaboration and innovative financing solutions for protracted crises. Our technology provides visibility and transparency to financial institutions, it opens new business opportunities for telcos and payment aggregators and offers new microfinance mechanisms for households and local MSMEs.
